AAC

AAC - Advanced Audio Coding is an audio codec standard. It provides improved compression for you to get higher-quality audio with smaller file sizes. The improved decoding efficiency reduces requirement for processing power. It supports for higher resolution audio (up to 96khz sampling rates), and multichannel audio up to 48 full frequency channels.

AAC has been adopted by the major standards organizations including the ISO MPEG (MPEG-4), 3GPP and 3GPP2, and DVB. It is widely upported by major desktop applications and handheld devieces such as iPod, PSP and Zune.
