File with extension .iso contains CD or DVD image. You can use CD emulation program mount it as a virtual CD/DVD, or use a burner to burn the data to a CD/DVD. Unlike other CD image file formats such as .bin, .img, .iso file can be opened by WinRAR as a normal archive, without having to burn it to a disk.
