AVCHD is a format jointly developed by Panasonic and Sony Corporation for high-definition camera recorders. The AVCHD format allows for recording high-definition 1080i or 720p video to various types of media including DVD, hard drive, and flash memory card. The video is compressed using the MPEG-4 AVC(H.264) standard, and the audio is compressed using the Dolby Digital AC3.
