DivX
DivX is a digital media format for video. DivX was originally developed from a hacked codec of Microsoft version of MPEG-4 formats - Windows Media Video V3, and the original DivX is named DivX 3.x or DivX;-). In 2001, the developers of DivX developed new DivX codec from scratch, which has nothing to do with Microsoft Windows Media Video, and named it DivX (without smiley) or DivX 4.xx. DivX compresses video to a fraction of its original size for efficient storage on your hard drive and easy sharing online. With DivX, you can store 50-120 minutes of relatively good quality video to one CD (740MB).
