Progressive scanning is a method for coding video signals by processing each scan line of a video frame in sequence. Progressive is often abbreviated as "p" in DTV format.

Progressive scanning is widely used in computer and LCD TV display. The other scanning method is in TV systems is Interlaced scanning.
