How to open Bin, Cue and ISO files

Files with extension .bin, .cue or .iso are commonly images of CDs or DVDs.

To use these files you can burn them into to a disk using your CD or DVD Burner.

A iso file can also be opened with WinRAR, so that you can treat it as an archive file.

However the easist way to use these files is using a virtual CD program such as Daemon Tools to mount them into a virtual CD/DVD drive. Daemon Tools Lite version is free and easy to use.

You can also download the  free tool from Microsoft.

To use it. follow these steps:

  1. Download and unzip the file
  2. Copy VCdRom.sys to your %systemroot%\system32\drivers folder.
  3. Execute VCdControlTool.exe, click "Driver control".
  4. If the "Install Driver" button is available, click it. Navigate to the %systemroot%\system32\drivers folder, select VCdRom.sys, and click Open.
  5. Click "Start", then click OK
  6. Click "Add Drive" to add a drive to the drive list. Ensure that the drive added is not a local drive.
  7. Select an unused drive letter from the drive list and click "Mount".
  8. Navigate to the image file, select it, and click "OK".
